Acceptable Use Policy

Effective: January 1, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines prohibited uses of PostMTA's email delivery services. Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Prohibited Content

You may NOT use PostMTA to send, facilitate, or promote content that:

• Is unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, or invasive of privacy
• Constitutes spam, unsolicited commercial email (UCE), or bulk email without proper consent
• Contains malware, viruses, ransomware, or malicious code
• Impersonates any person or entity, or falsely represents affiliation
• Contains phishing, fraudulent offers, or deceptive marketing
• Violates the CAN-SPAM Act, CASL, GDPR, or any applicable anti-spam law
• Infringes on any third-party intellectual property, trademark, or copyright
• Contains obscene, pornographic, or explicit material (except for legally-age-verified adult content sites with proper sender practices)
• Relates to illegal gambling or lottery schemes not properly licensed
• Relates to the sale of regulated substances, weapons, or controlled substances

Prohibited Practices

• Sending to purchased, rented, or scraped email lists without documented consent
• Failing to honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days
• Using misleading subject lines or deceptive preview text
• Hiding or falsifying the sender's physical address
• Attempting to circumvent spam filters, reputation systems, or rate limits
• Using PostMTA infrastructure to relay email for third parties without authorization
• Accessing PostMTA systems for any purpose not explicitly authorized
• Attempting to probe, scan, or test vulnerability of PostMTA systems

List Quality Requirements

• All recipient addresses must have been collected via documented opt-in
• Hard bounce rates must remain below 3% of total sent volume
• Complaint rates (FBL) must remain below 0.1%
• Unsubscribe requests must be processed within 10 business days

Enforcement

PostMTA monitors for violations through:

• Spam trap detection and honeypot monitoring
• Complaint feedback loops with major ISPs (Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo)
• Third-party blacklist monitoring
• Content scanning for malware and phishing patterns

Violations may result in: (1) immediate suspension of sending; (2) account termination; (3) reporting to relevant authorities. PostMTA reserves sole discretion in determining AUP violations.

To report AUP violations or abuse, contact abuse@postmta.com. Include full headers of the offending email and your relationship to the sender.
